Cookie Policy
Dr. Mayssam Mounir | drmayssam.com | Last updated: May 11, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Dr. Mayssam Mounir (“I”, “me”, “my”) uses cookies and similar technologies on the website at drmayssam.com (“the Website”). It tells you what cookies are, which ones the Website uses, what they do, how long they last, and how you can control them.
This Cookie Policy is one of several documents that govern your engagement with my work. It is read alongside my Privacy Policy, my Terms of Service, my Practice Disclaimer & Informed Consent, my Checkout Terms (for any purchase made through the Website), my One-to-One Coaching Agreement (for any one-to-one engagement), and my Minors Engagement Addendum (where a minor client is involved). Where this Cookie Policy and the Privacy Policy address the same topic (cookie disclosure), this Cookie Policy is the more detailed source of truth.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the owners of the site. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, web beacons, pixels, and fingerprinting techniques. In this Cookie Policy, “cookies” refers to all such technologies.
2. Categories of cookies
Cookies are grouped into categories based on what they do. The Website uses cookies in the following categories:
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the Website to function. They cannot be disabled, and they do not require your consent under the EU ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR. Without them, the Website would not work properly.
Examples on this Website:
Session cookies used to maintain your session while you navigate the site
Security cookies used to detect malicious traffic and protect the Website (including cookies set by Cloudflare, the security and performance layer in front of the Website, such as __cf_bm for bot management and cf_clearance for security challenges)
Cookies that remember your cookie consent preferences (so the banner does not reappear on every visit)
2.2 Analytics cookies
These help me understand how visitors use the Website, in aggregate, so I can improve the content and the experience. They are loaded only with your consent through the cookie banner, and they can be disabled at any time through the cookie preferences link in the website footer.
Examples on this Website (subject to the analytics tools I actually use, as updated from time to time in section 4 below):
Cookies that count the number of visitors to each page
Cookies that show me which pages are most read, how long visitors spend on them, and how they navigate between pages
Cookies that aggregate information about browser type, device type, and country of access — to help me understand my audience without identifying individual visitors
2.3 Functional cookies
These remember choices you make to give you a better experience, such as your preferred language. They are loaded only with your consent.
2.4 Marketing and advertising cookies
The Website does not currently run direct marketing or advertising cookies, third-party advertising trackers, or cross-site behavioural advertising tools that I have configured.
Where I embed third-party content on the Website (for example, a YouTube video, an Instagram post, a podcast embed, or a social-media share button), the third-party service may set its own cookies on your device when you interact with the embedded content. These third-party cookies are governed by the privacy policies of the respective services. I will identify any such embedded third-party services in Section 4 when in use, and the cookie banner will require your consent before any non-essential third-party content loads.
If I introduce direct marketing or advertising cookies in the future, this Cookie Policy will be updated and your consent will be re-sought through the cookie banner.
3. The legal basis for cookies
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC, the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and equivalent laws:
Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent and are placed on your device automatically
All other cookies (analytics, functional, marketing) require your prior, informed, freely given, specific, and unambiguous consent before they are placed on your device
Your consent is obtained through the cookie banner that appears when you first visit the Website
You may withdraw your consent at any time, with the same ease with which you gave it, through the cookie preferences link in the website footer
Where your consent involves the processing of personal data, my Privacy Policy explains the basis on which that processing happens and your rights
4. The cookies used on this Website
The table below lists the cookies that may be placed on your device when you visit the Website. It is updated from time to time as the Website changes. The current version is always available at drmayssam.com/cookies.
Strictly necessary
__cf_bm (Cloudflare) — bot management; expires after 30 minutes
cf_clearance (Cloudflare) — security challenge clearance; expires after 1 year
__cflb (Cloudflare) — load balancing; session
[COOKIE CONSENT TOOL] consent storage — stores your cookie preferences; expires after 12 months
[WEBSITE PLATFORM] session cookie — maintains your session; expires when you close the browser
Analytics (loaded only with consent)
[ANALYTICS TOOL] cookies — e.g. Google Analytics _ga (2 years), _gid (24 hours), _gat (1 minute); or alternative privacy-respecting tools such as Plausible or Fathom, which do not set persistent cookies
Functional (loaded only with consent)
[FUNCTIONAL COOKIES IF APPLICABLE] — e.g. language preference, region selection
Section 4 is updated each time a new tool is added or removed from the Website. The current version is always available at drmayssam.com/cookies. If you visit this page and find an entry that does not match what your browser shows, please contact me at support@drmayssam.com.
5. How to control cookies
5.1 Through the cookie banner
When you first visit the Website, a cookie banner asks you to choose: accept all non-essential cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or set granular preferences (analytics on/off, functional on/off). The “accept” and “reject” options are presented with equal prominence; you do not need to dig into preferences to decline.
5.2 Through the persistent cookie preferences link
A “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer of every page lets you change your choices at any time, with the same ease with which you originally gave consent. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.
5.3 Through your browser
Every major browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) lets you block cookies, delete existing cookies, and configure notifications when cookies are placed. Instructions are available in your browser’s help documentation. Note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Website may not function.
5.4 Browser-level controls and global signals
Where your browser sends a “Global Privacy Control” signal or a “Do Not Track” signal, I respect it and treat it as a signal to limit cookies to strictly necessary only, unless you have separately given consent through the cookie banner.
6. Re-consent
I will ask for your consent again:
Every twelve (12) months, even if you have previously consented
Whenever I add a new category of cookie, a new analytics tool, or a new third-party tracker that materially changes what data is processed
Whenever you clear your browser cookies (your previous consent record is then lost, and the banner will appear again on your next visit)
7. Personal data and cookies
Some cookies process personal data (for example, an IP address used to identify a visitor). Where this happens, the processing is also governed by my Privacy Policy. The two documents are read together: this Cookie Policy explains the cookie technology; the Privacy Policy explains how the resulting personal data is handled.
Where a cookie or any data it generates is transferred outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the same safeguards described in Section 5 of the Privacy Policy apply.
8. Changes to this Cookie Policy
I may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, particularly when the analytics tools or other cookie-setting services on the Website change. The “Last updated” date at the top tells you when it was last revised. Material changes affecting your rights will be communicated through the cookie banner, which will re-prompt for consent.
9. How to contact me
